Used Book Donations

We are grateful for a community that wants to support our stock by making donations of used books. Because we do not yet have a permanent location, our ability to safely accept and store stock is limited. In order to best care for the books entrusted to us, we have implemented the following guidelines.

1. We will accept donations of books in like new, very good or good condition. Fair to poor condition books may or may not be accepted at our discretion. Our discretion will be based on available storage/shelf space, current genre stock, etc.
2. We want to take the best care we can of all the books in our stock so we ask that books be previously inspected before donation to ensure they are clear from damage like mold or bug friends. Sometimes books tucked away in storage come with surprises that might pose a risk to other books around them.
3. Books are only accepted while we are open and personally able to accept them.*
4. During pop up events, we may be more limited in how many donations we can accept due to limited space in our vehicle. We recommend donations of 10 books or less during pop ups. While we are in our temporary holiday location (The Edgar Lee Masters Memorial Museum & Home) we can typically accept larger donations. 
5. We are still accepting all genres. Our lowest stock genres at the moment are teen/young adult and romance.
6. Donations of 3 books or more will receive 10% off your purchase that day. This may be combined with other discounts unless specified that the other discount may not be combined.

 

* We previously shared that we were in the process of setting up book donation drop off locations with other local businesses. We are extremely grateful to have other businesses willing to work with us to offer this option, but ultimately decided against it. Used books arrive to us in varying conditions and are best received by us directly. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we learn what will work best.
