Our Dreamy Book Club

The Literary Mansion Society is our book club. The Society gathers monthly at the beautiful Three Pines Petersburg to discuss the selected book with light refreshments and snacks. Our genre changes month to month and the book is selected from three title options by votes from members of the Society. We have over 100 members online in our Facebook Group and typically have 10 to 20 members at our gatherings. 

We do ask that those that do not purchase the book club book with us consider making an optional donation of $10 toward the cost of hosting book club. This is not required. We won't remind or ask anyone for this at the gathering. If you can't afford to contribute one month, or any month, please do not let that stop you from joining us. We have built a community and we want you to feel welcome. If you are craving community and feel like a book club might have your kind of people, we want you there.

You are not required to read the book to attend book club gatherings. Again, this is about community as much as it's about books. And if you're ever worried about spoilers or touchy topics, you are welcome to find a quiet corner in the mansion and enjoy some quiet reading.

We proudly partner with the Petersburg Public Library and connect with them about our book club selections. They stock book club selections as they are able and offer access to e-books and audiobooks when available.

We believe that accessibility is important and understand that not everyone may want or be able to purchase the book. We don't want that to keep anyone from joining us.

The Mansion

A beloved Petersburg landmark, Three Pines is an Italianate-style mansion built in 1875. We could not ask for a better back drop for our gatherings with it's large rooms, elaborate plaster work, and deep fireplaces with marbled mantles. You are welcome to explore the open spaces of the mansion during book club and even find a quiet corner to read.

- This book is not available for purchase. The Petersburg Public Library has several copies available. We do have a limited number of copies available to lend as well. We will accept donations of The Sangamon to increase our quantity. Copies collected will be donated back to the Edgar Lee Masters Memorial Museum to ensure they have a solid collection.
